Sonia Thomas

Having been a Senior Police Officer, Sonia Thomas spent  33 years successfully resolving conflict.  She brings her unique professional and personal experiences to her mediation practice. Her style is to guide you through a reasoned and holistic process that helps you come up with solutions to resolve your specific differences.  She has a proven record that when mediation is done mindfully it transforms relations, encourages reflection, and empowers parties with strategies to assist them in resolving future conflict.

Sonia provides affordable, culturally competent mediation services, and all matters are treated with utmost confidentiality.  Born and raised in Toronto she understands the diverse demographics and strives to maintain harmony within the community.

I use specific mediation techniques relevant to the particular mediation, and skills to encourage parties to share underlying needs and interests; the issues we don’t see; the profound thoughts and feelings not always obvious.  When these discussions are effectively facilitated they assist in the parties truly understanding each other's perspective.  My goal is to help parties understand that, in most cases, malicious intent was not the contributing factor in the conflict and that parties come to the table in good faith to make things better.  It is my experience that mediation is most successful when participants trust the mediator and the process and feel they were actively involved in coming to a resolution that creates a win-win situation for both parties involved.
